The Penguin

all that is good
comes from the right
a vague philosophy
that kept me awake at night

nightmares of penguins
dressed in black and white
with rulers to teach
that GOD is the light

from the very first grade
I was destined to sin
my left hand itching
for the place to begin

the small little rock
was what really mattered
as the left went forward
the church glass shattered

that was the beginning
and the only true sin
was that the rock landed
without hitting the penguin

Bob Shank-Sept. 17th, 2005
a funny way of looking at a sad
ordeal and the wrong interpertation
of the parable "never let your left
hand know what your right hand is doing"

"If I told you my reality, you'd
say I have a great imagination,
If I told you my imagination, you'd
say I've lost touch with reality"-Bob Shank, 2004
