You asked me, Did I love you?
I said, No.
You asked me, Did I care for you?
I said, No.
You asked me, Did we have good times?
I said, Not really.
You asked me, What is wrong?
I said, Nothing.
You asked me, Was I crying?
I said, No.
You asked me, What have you done to me?
I said, Nothing.
You asked me, Do I believe in love?
I said, Not really.
You asked me, Am I happy?
I said, No.
You asked me, Why?
I said, Because I'm sad.
You asked me, Why am I sad?
I said, Because I'm lonely.
You asked me, Do I want to be lonely?
I said, No.
You asked me, What am I waiting for?
I said, I'm afraid.
You asked me, Afraid of what?
I said, Loving you.
You asked me, Why?
I said, I don't want to be hurt.
You said, You won't be hurt.
I asked you, How do you know?

Coulda been
This could have been treacle, but you sidestepped the snares and made it into something compelling and individual. Love the rhythm, the coda, and the indecisive fear.

Nicely done.
