There is this emotion that I can't seem to shake
It puts all relationships at a very high stake.

Its the barometer that tells me I'm truly in love
Yet can be as harmful as a curse from above.

Without caring or feeling or being in love
I can avoid this emotion and be free as a dove.

Allowing myself to feel love as I do
Makes me subject to feeling this destructive one too.

Jealousy.

A delicate balance
A barometer for love may perhaps be "jealousy" but "trust" is its counterpoise. Without trust, 'the pressure slowly decreases' and jealousy could end up delivering a coup de grāce to the relationship.
