Saguaro

Holding up my arms in prayer
Thanking God for warm days and pleasant nights
Silently wishing for drops of rain to fall my way.

How I envy the trees by the wash
Who during rains quench their mighty thirst
While here I stand, dry as a bone.

Through winter months, long and dry
Soaking up rare moisture from the ground
Storing up my life giving treasure.

For a hundred years I've stood
Waiting for my Love, with arms stretched open wide
Praying, for the kiss of rain.....
