Sacred Vows (Rant)

unable to conceive
why she couldn't leave
an anxiety attack
held her back
feeling low
from an "I told you so"
spoken by a clown
who had beaten her down
stealing her esteem
changing her dream
from happiness
to distress

she loved him
always thought of him
gave up her life
to become his wife
to honor and obey
a slave on the way
abused
misused
brutally battered
nothing else mattered
he'd already won
until the gun
tore through his heart
till death they depart
her vow
over now

Bob Shank Aug. 16th, 2005
Dedicated to the many women
who suffer from spousal abuse.

"Any male who abuses a child or a woman, does not deserve the title of man, as he is still a boy who has yet to deal with his adolescent inadaquacies"
Bob Shank.......July 2004

------
"If I told you my reality, you'd
say I have a great imagination,
If I told you my imagination, you'd
say I've lost touch with reality"-Bob Shank, 2004

Flashback
Bob....this poem took me back to 1986 when I was in the Women's Shelter...I was married to a man who verbally abused me ...I did not think I was abused because he didn't beat me...but his words pierced my heart as a sharp knife...the people at the shelter made me see how I was abused and I was able to heal...I'm better now...Kacee
