I've been asked to write for an online Tattoo Magazine. Not only was I flattered but extremely excited. The editor was searching for tattoo articles and came across my name from a previously published article and emailed me directly to ask if I would take on the job. I jumped at the chance to throw myself into the research and time it took to write up articles and opinion pieces about something that is as close to me as tattoos and everything that goes along with them.

But on to why I'm posting this blog. My next article is about why or how people decide on their tattoos and where they put them? What makes some of us get a small butterfly or a heart while others go for the skull and crossbones or the Japanese demons that are growing like crazy. Why do girls mainly have them on their lower back or feet when men like to have full blown sleeves or neck tattoos?

Any feedback any of you inked or non-inked could give me would be appreciated and I'll give credit to you as well in my article if I quote you.

Thanks for the help.

Sexy tattoos ?
Congrats Jess! I wish I could help you out but I have no tattoos. I do have to say that I find the ones on the lower back of a female very sexy, maybe that is the reason so many girls place them there. Best of luck to you!

tattos, baby!
Sorry, I don't have any tatoos nor does my husband.

However, my ex-husband had a tasmanian devil tatto on his hip that he got with a bunch of friends when they were intoxicated and barely old enough to do it. I always found it amusing that I could see Taz's little red feet sticking out of my ex's tighty-whities. (TMI?)

My son, got a tattoo after surviving bootcamp. It is on his pectoral muscle and it says "soldier" in what I think is Japanese. (Talk about a target)

He got another one just before leaving for Iraq. It's an armband on his bicep that is the head of an eagle.

He was talking about getting another one that will look like the three crosses on the hill you see representing Calvary, but instead, it will be three rifles with headgear resting on them, representing the three soldiers from his unit that died in Iraq. This one he was going to put on the right shoulder area of his back.

The women I know getting tattoos, usually do it together after months of discussion and theirs need to have some profound meaning. Often, they all get the same one and usually on the small of their backs. Many women don't want a tattoo that will show when they get all dressed up for a formal event. At the small of their backs, they can choose when it will show.

I hope this helps.

Good luck with your article!

Thanks girls
Nae,....what are you waiting for? As experimental as you are now a days getting inked is one of those things you need to add to your list don't you think?

Felicia, thanks for the great input. I've already submitted the article but I'm going to go back and pull it so I can add in some of the great info you passed on about your views and your son's experiences. :)

And as soon as I deliver my third baby I'm going out for another tattoo. Might have to upload the pic for all Litians to see....I'm thinking of putting it on my ear....much to my husbands upset!!!! :)

Thanks again.

following the subject
have you had your new tatto done?
what is it?

... I remember speaking with one girl who wanted a tattoo...
Although being wild in nature, she wanted something small and 'average' on her "tail" (again, this lower back placement) as artistic tattoos can be 'a distinct mark' ~
she said: "I don't want a guy to tell his friends that he just spent a night with such-and-such tattoo girl, and have his buddy say "I know this tattoo!"

haha tattoo
Yes actually I did. I finally wore my husband down and went and got another tattoo. This one is on the back of my neck, it's the kanji symbol for mother or a haha tattoo. I love it, it's in navy blue instead of the standard black....and it's my favorite one so far. I'm heading back under the ink hopefully in April for my anniversary. Still thinking on what I'm going to get for that one.

Thanks for the comment.
