A traveling man
Had a silent follower
Kissing his footsteps but
Longing to kiss his feet.
Moving along too steadily
He failed to notice
Her kisses in the sand.
Her trip stopped
Long before his would.

His anger mounted
As she had found a foot to kiss
That would not be a granulated
Unrequited wish.
Not long-lived of a kiss
But a long remembered one.

Now they long for each other
Their only common memory
Being the dirt
That stood between them.

Cities apart they lie alone at night
Remembering the oceans that washed in
On their shared beaches.

The tides were the only thing
That they could count on.
And they can’t see the tides
For each other.

Though the tides always come on time,
The waves aren’t the same
Without the shadow of one another….
One behind,
One ahead…Planting kisses in the sand.

Loonie! How did this one slip by? I am sitting here with tears in my eyes. What a beautiful piece of art you have here. You really touched my heart with this.

Loved it!
