You invade my thoughts
without warning
and I find myself all too easily
reveling in my imaginations.
I can recall
every single time
you have been within
the arc of my embrace.
I wish that I were able
to express
how desperately I have wanted
to reach out and hold you.
If only there were some way
to quantify the strength of will
needed to resist
those basic, primal instincts.
And yet somehow I do.
Can you tell?
Have you noticed the way
my eyes have a tendency
to follow you around the room?
I am trying to be discreet
but it's hard to drink you in
without letting on or giving in.
So I walk the line of your legs
with my eyes and imagine
the intimate warmth of your skin.
I imagine the sweet slow curves
and the shivered caress
and delicate small of your back.
Do you know what I would give
to hear your breath
become heavy with need?
To feel the quiver of thighs
and moaning and sighs?
Once, just once,
to taste your wet lips in the rain.
In shame defeated,
forced to surrender
to the tug of desire again.
I will wait and wait and wait.
For a tear in the seam,
a slip in the dream.
A sliver of time
when you can be mine.
Until then, I will bide the time.
Share the oft held glance
and quick word.
I will enjoy the quiet ache.
and mind the hunger
of my forbidden fruit
