Gray clouds hovered above the earth
all day like passive UFO’s just
observing the potpourri of both
human and animal specimens below.

After some time
droplets fell steadily from these
water vapor heavenly sponges
like tears from God’s eyes,
rinsing and washing
everything in their path.

Then, bright golden light suddenly flashed
from the brightening blue sky above
flooding each tree bud and grass blade
with a wake-up call for green hues and growth.

My little portion of the world
basked in the natural glory for
only a few paltry pretty hours
until the yellow and green
greeting the surroundings
quickly rinsed back to grayness again.
