our air was Fall
burning
we kicked our way through colours
dry leaves made swishing sounds
returning to Earth
like a million bombs over Hanoi
our hair grew long
minds and bellies expanded
thanks to Campus Nook's grilled sticky buns
washed down with fruited-oranges
alongside student union's grassy bank
beneath novas and VW's
gasoline creeked its way down hill
we could have lit night sky
being student deferment blessed
we fired only within ourselves
as multicoloured mass appeared over freshman hall
where "Voodoo Child" floated from open window
this giant pyramid briefly hovered
its lights seemingly danced with Jimi
before streaking away lightning-quick
leaving bank we held in stillness
we reflected among fallen colours
burning
