the end is near

soon everyone i know will forget me

they won't even remember my name

we will all go one with our lives and forget the ones who shaped our lives

forget the times we laughed together

the times we cried

when we walk down the pathway to our future

everyting i once loved will vanish like smoke

and i will become a new being

that will never be the same as the one you once knew

the end

At first, I thought this poem was fatalistic, until the end when you say you will become a different being. It sounds like your getting ready to shed another layer; throw out the trash (I hope).

Nicely written,

The End
It is indeed as of shedding layers. Personally, I've had a thousand lives, in different areas, and that poem hit me from that perspective.

I've found, though, people forget the name long after they forget the person.

"soon everyone i know will forget me"

That thought haunts on every ferry trip I've ever sailed. I remember that line for next time.
