LITTLE TOMMY TURPIN
A BOY FROM OUT OF TOWN

ONCE CAME TO THE CITY
TO HAVE A LOOK AROUND

HE MARVELLED AT THE BUILDINGS
THE TRAFFIC AND THE STREETS

HE WALKED AROUND FOR HOURS
AND NOW HE HAD SORE FEET

HE SAT DOWN ON A BENCH
IN THE PRETTY PARK

AND THEN HE SLOWLY FELL ASLEEP
AND WOKE UP IN THE DARK

NOW FOR A COUNTRY BOY
IN THE CITY AFTER DARK

IT WASN’T SUCH A GOOD IDEA
IT WASN’T SUCH A LARK

A LADY OF THE NIGHT
WENT PASSING BY THE BENCH

AND SAID TO OUR YOUNG TOMMY
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY A WHENCH

NOW TOMMY DID NOT UNDERSTAND
AND RAN AWAY IN FRIGHT

AND VOWED TO RETURN HOME
THE VERY SAME NIGHT

NOW THE MORAL OF THIS STORY
IS VERY PLAIN TO SEE
THAT IF YOU LIVE IN THE COUNTRY
THE CITY’S NOT FOR THEE
