I'm sure you are proud of your creation,I was too.
But it is time for The Flood.
You created something good and wonderful.
So many writers had somewhere to share and have fun.
But evil is a part of human nature.
I know, I created once and had to destroy.
The cancer has begun, the tumor is growing.
Radiate, chemotize, turn the spigot on and flood.
Warn Noah (drsoos), tell him to gather his one liners two by two.
Get them on the boat and keep them safe for forty days and forty nights.
Then let's see what the offspring brings.
Can people say what they mean in one line AND make it outloud funny?
Not as easy as rambling on line after line with evil intent.
Get your laser out and zap the poison arrows you call PM's,
Where intelligent people slither on their bellies to "new" usernames to point
their poison pens at someone else.
Toss the gasoline and light the torch.
See what comes up out of the ashes.
Take it from one who knows, you'll be glad you did.

by simplyput

READ THIS..its signed God?
Also wondering if this is a threat,,,,why is it signed God?
WHY? The warning to "Noah", Dr. Soos....and a tint of biblical innuendos and deathly illnesses.

I have been here before June and if I don't like what I see I have the freedom to verbalize myself, like the rest of us. If you don't like it here and what Crowe has done, just leave...I really don't understand this.

Your open letter is anything but 'simply put'. I wish you would say what is specifically troubling you. That helps clear up problems most effectively.

( Posted by: GibsonGirl [Member] On: May 19, 2005 )

Noah way
Simplyputz-

I gather my one-liners one by one-
between zero and two hundred share in my fun.

Your post gives no clear clue what your problem is-

Well, now the poem falls apart. Perhaps you could plainly state your problem with me? I wonder what you ever created besides confusion.I'm not sure if I want to douse you with gasoline or just bury you in your own verbal manure. Would you please explain yourself in clear concise English if you can? Little words are O.K.

p.s.

I have NEVER posted in any other name. I am what I am. What are you? and what is your problem with me? In plain English, s'il vous plait. (Then I used French- it's funny unless you need it explained.)

If you are God, sorry about that. More likely, you're a dyslexic dog. Foow foow.

p.s. PM pms-
I have never abused PM's - this must be about PMS

Defanging the snake!
Those that have something constructive to say...SAY. Those who are envious of other's talents and their own inadequeces...annonymously spew venom! How sad! Just to remind you...there is an antidote to a snake's venom...being ignored..and I suggest that's what we should do with you!

sweet tinalouise

tinalouise- I believe the view count refers to god's post here. I am honored- this is the third character created solely to attack me- first was "friendofthepearlowner" 2nd was "johntellsall" now god aka who cares. None ever posted any work and their lame efforts remain on record here. It cheers me to have such ineffectual enemas (mis-spelling intentional).

Dearest Crowe
I was right. I told you if I put this up they will burn me at the stake, not understand. "Put it up" you said, they'll be nice to a first time poster. I told you they wouldn't, couldn't, can't. I called them all intelligent, no one noticed. I think soos is funny. Now I think he can't take a compliment. I told you they wouldn't catch my meaning, remember? I'm not God. I'm not Crowe. I'm not able to cause floods and I can't fix Lit.org. Mean spirited has it's foot in the door. Best of luck to you, you have my respect. Janeen

Some opionion to post
AND all that follow are OPINIONS as well.......take all that you said in your FIRST post and write it in poetic form and post it under Poems....or better yet, rewrite it as a REAL letter TO Crowe.....but send it via his email.

I am never an evil person, as you suggest here and take aim at all of us at Lit. SO tell me why you can't take the verbal comments to which you SO openly invited?

You obviously have missed MANY first posts to which were openly welcomed and commented in ways to help those individuals.

I had a problem with HOW this was written, confused me for using past tenses....there are several things wrong with this picture and I have looked at this over and over and cannot fathom why you would even post such a thing, as who gave you the UPPER hand to chastize us, who viewed your first submission.......openly invited comments by doing so.

So Janeen, OUR LIT voyeur.....what made you SO good that you could put everyone to a test like this?

And if you READ my comment over, there is NOTHING evil about it. I only questioned it, just as I am doing now.

Anyways have a good one,
Dar

( Posted by: Dareva [Member] On: May 19, 2005 )

Tina, re the views in numbers
Hey honey, welcome home!!!

The view that you see on each submission are the times that others, or yourself view said poem/prose/story/blog etc.
So the views up here are how many times this page itself was viewed Tina.

Yes I have questions myself.
I do not think any of us are EVIL here.....hmmm.

Close the flood gates, please
How interesting that your post is written with obvious intent to create disharmony and then you express to Crowe acknowledment of the way it was recieved.
I have been posting and reading here for about a year, on and off, as my time permits.
I have made many friends who bolster my poetic spirit. I have always recieved helpful critique and encouragement.
During highly political times there was understandable friction. I notice still that issues of religion and politics can bring out some rather nasty attitudes. That is old stuff though. Those issues will always bring their share of opposing opinions, some heated.
Why not extole the virtues of this site, of which there are plenty?
God, surely would find those virtues and be glad.
As to Soos, I took your writing to say he was the one "redeemable".
Please don't torch us, Crowe. We are worth the odd moments out.
I thank you, Crowe, for this site. It has been a haven, and a source of creativity.
Best blessings Janeen-
Elizabeth

flood
"I think soos is funny" is a compliment- I'll take it! I'm not so sure about being Noah unless it's Webster- intelligent belly slitherers? Not entirely complimentary. I guess my one-liners and I get to survive the flood, but I don't understand your surprise at the negative reaction to this. It doesn't read like praise- and that's o.k. You're entitled to your opinion and to express it, as are those who have commented on it. If you suggest flooding, chemo, radiation and lasers then some of the "tumors" just may resent it. It seems mean spirited. If you have been burned at the stake, see what rises from the ashes. It's O.K. I would like to see something you have written that isn't ABOUT lit.org.

( Posted by: drsoos [Member] On: May 19, 2005 )

Tina, tag,
it is the same thing, if you look on my bio page, those are total views of ALL my submissions.
Not what they view,,,if you take a look at this page the views will be the same or very close to the bio page since there is ONLY one submission.
On others it is the total of all their work.
Kind of neat...check yours out too Tina,

Dar ;)

Floods n such
"Where intelligent people slither on their bellies to "new" usernames to point
their poison pens at someone else."

Sound familiar?

( Posted by: Viper9 [Member] On: May 19, 2005 )

Put the unicorns with the lions and tigers, they should be okay.
I echo Penelope's sentiment. I don't really think 'simplyput' is trying to be malicious, cause a 'flood' of responses, yes.

Anyway simplyput, this is your first post and it's written a little differently to what most people usually submit as you know, so not everyone's going to 'get you' the first time and most people just want clarification on what you're saying (I think).

I found this piece inventive and certainly a lot better than the newcomer 'hit and runs' of late.

It may help you to respond directly to peoples questions rather then writing letters directly to Crowe.

Keep writing

Muddy water
I didn't quite get what this opinion piece is all about. I don't see lit.org as diseased and a place of creeping evil. I'd bet that the majority of people who have vanished from this site did not do so because of hurt feelings or because it wasn't all fun and games. It probably didn't suit them or they went on to other pastures.

The last thing you want with a "workshop" type site, or as I would prefer to describe it, "a writer's soiree," is a mutual admiration society where everyone has to make nice and always be touchy-feely, afraid to comment in any way that might be perceived as negative criticism.

I must say when I first read this, I thought you were putting drsoos in a good light, a hero. That part I understood.

I don't understand "the poison arrows you call PM's." Are you referring to the regular "comments" or "Personal Messaging?." I'm not aware of bad stuff regarding the personal messaging system.

And the line about usernames sounds like everybody is secretly changing usernames so they can spew bile and venom. Maybe I'm naive, but I don't see any indication of that.

It also sounds like you're slamming everybody in general, which is probably why the immediate comments you received were so defensive.

So I have to say that your piece fails, not because of what you're saying, but because it is too vague and unclear.

As far as being "burned at the stake," c'mon, if you're serious about writing you're going need a tougher skin than that.

But hey! For a first post you sure got a lot of attention. You ought to feel good. If you don't believe me, just check out "lonely posts."

God's opinion? Not!!!!
This doesn't sound nice or friendly to me at all not a bit! Somebody whose not God calling themselves God is a sin. Only God speaks for God and you don't know what God wants or what God is thinking about anybody. Only God is judge of everybody, not you. Thats my opinion of your opinion.

I accept your nomination for myself as the new Noah. It's not quite Messiah but will look good on my resume.

As space is limited I will be the only male human aboard. Females will be selected based on their sexual desirability (and creativity), needed not only for procreation but for recreation as well, in order to maintain myself as sole male progenitor of the human race. It's a tough job, but only I can be trusted with it. Sorry, guys but it's sink or swim time so forget sonnets and learn to tread water.

and have never been afraid to use my real name and no alias.......I don't have the NEED to pretend to be anyone else on here.

think I will take a break from here tho'

I don't understand how anyone can this this is a positive post but to each their own. so whoever you are, the only thing that I see for a positive outcome....was all the attention, like a naughty child, negative attention is better than none

anyhow, it is kind of funny in a sick sort of way, to toy with others ....I don't think it is at all a NICE thing tho'....

oh well

I'm done here

Tina, only walking from
the comments of this segment of lit and I will stay away from ones I am not comfortable with...there are some very good people here that are honest.....using my 6th sense and wisdom,,only going to take a break. I am tired today.....just walking from this and several other comment threads, we need to just keep open and not fall into the negative cess pools.

We are not forced to comment, or post. I love posting and I do love lit still, I admire many writers.......they are the very good few that are keeping me here,,,,,making me feel that I want to stay.

Namaste,
Megwetch,
Ciao,

I'll tell you,GG
My wife is simply put. The reason that she wrote this piece was that I have received a few nasty PMs. Now I will let you guess who sent them, and if I need to post them somewhere on this site for all to see, so be it. That is what I wanted to do anyway. All my wife was doing was defending me. When I got online this morning I wasn't aware that she was logged on. She prefers to remain private. She does read a tremendous amount here on lit, and has never commented until now. She tried to deal with it in a proper way.

I am sorry for her to be "exposed" and she is upset. I am tired of being accused of things that aren't true.

When the PMs were activated by Crowe, he said that they should not be abused. They have been.

All of this happened after the Doug Soderstrom blow-up. If you will notice,(if you care) I did not respond from that day to any of the crap spewed about me. I responded to Gomar on my thread because I thought he was sincere and respected him for asking. I should not have.

I am not trying to get "people to choose sides"
This all makes me sick to my stomach.

I apologise for the confusion. I am responsible.

DO with this as you will.

Against the advice of my wife I Am responding.

williamhill

( Posted by: williamhill [Member] On: May 20, 2005 )

Willliam
The explanation only shows me she tried to help you...but in doing so, others of us who have never been evil or even PM'd you,,,,,are left confused and wondering what and why this was written.

I think if there is any animosity between ANY members here, it should then be kept behind the scenes. No one should be exposed or hurt, you, your wife, or whoever has pm'd nasty things to you.

I think the PM's were a good thing, I have only had good PM's written to me, and in one case where I ironed out somethings between myself and a new member,,,,,we did it behind the scenes and everything is fine.

I have never had problems with you in commenting on my work, or my reading yours. BUT then I keep my political views and religious ones silent at best because I have seen how things escalate and get out of hand,,,,,at times.

Crowe had specifically said that comments should be geared to THAT author's work,,,and anything else should be done with the PM's if I am not mistaken.

I never did say anything evil towards your wife's submission here, just that I was left confused, not angry, but felt it was a game of sorts.

Now that you have told us why, who...well it doesn't settle me much better. I just want us to have peace here, life is too short and precious to be vendictive, vial, evil as was put....I am not an evil person.

Keep up your good work with the Notes on the Fridge....and peaceful blessings to all.

Take care,

Darlene

Simplyput is Janeen
And yes Charlie messed up and exposed me. I had logged in and was going to write my P.S. to Crowe where I answer your questions about this piece and why I wrote it. Charlie doesn't need defending. I just thought that nasty PM's were a bit low and a little light on them would perhaps make them dissipate. I didn't think the piece would offend anyone who hadn't written one.
The other reason I wrote it was that Charlie used to be pleasant and upbeat about Lit.org. But as of late his quarrel with Ms. D. is a bit much for me. I was hoping this piece would make him see that and lighten up a bit.
As for Ms. D, you extended your hand yesterday, please don't take it back because we screwed up.
Lit.org is Charlie's world not mine. I don't write and therefore do not feel all that worthy to be commenting here.
I will now retract back to reading and mostly admiring and yes laughing outloud at drsoos. Janeen

re: flood
I've written this response about 10 times now but my anger keeps seething through.

MY WIFE HAS CANCER

Understand the pain you've just inflicted on me, throwing that in my face. Thank you for that.

My hands are shaking I'm so angry. I'm going for a walk before I say something everyone here will regret, including myself.

( Posted by: Chrispian [Admin] On: May 20, 2005 )

OMG Crowe,,,,
And like children we argue over words, yet words can dig so deep.

Without knowing.....but as I said to this opinion piece, things as such NEED to be behind the scenes not open in front of others that had nothing to do with the writing of this, and if it is only one person, why bring it forward for everyone .........
Let's drop this, get it off this site
and let's go on as best as we can.

Words cannot be taken back. Actions can do little at a time to heal. So let's all act like the adults we are and MAKE this a lesson NOT to forget.

Crowe, I know you don't want sympathies or pity. But I know I will speak for many, that our heartfelt wishes are with you.

Crowe and other interested/Flood
Chris and all interested,
I have always read these posts that seem laced with anger and hate but always felt adding input would only add to the fire so I butted out. But this time I want to say my peace. Chris, I obviously had nothing to do with this, but the thought that you were hurt by this breaks my heart. You have been amazing to all of us, and despite of all you are going through with Aeryn you have shown us nothing but kindness. I want to say I am so sorry you were caused pain, and that I hope all of us will take a little responsibility for the things we say, thinking them through first. Wishing you and Aeryn tons of stregnth, peace and love.

Ever,
Nae

The Great Simplyput Debacle
I missed much of this debacle, so I spent the last few minutes catching up. It's interesting that simplyput would be surprised by the reaction her venomous piece would inspire -- the shock is clearly fake.

If simplyput is really williamhill's wife, I wonder what her name really is. Normally I wouldn't care, but since this tag team likes to spout off about deception and "hiding" and "fake identities" etc., I'm curious. Now she says her name is Janeen. But on November 24 2004, someone claiming to be Williamhill's wife said her name was Wilma.

Sigh.

Next to last, I noticed that all sorts of people here have publicly apologized for causing Crowe and his wife any pain (directly or indirectly), but that the one responsible, Simplyput, has not.

And finally, I hope simplyput/williamhill and demeter just leave each other alone. I'm a "forgive and forget" sort of person, which is easy for me because I'm a non-Christian, but these two clearly are not. Demeter's a friend, and I hope one day she tries to forgive williamhill/simplyput for his nonstop attacks. But until that happens may I suggest that each of you pretend the other isn't there?

Demeter, I see, has already proposed something like this.

If you want this to keep going on,fine. It's about you too. And well, you are just plain wrong. Look for a PM.

( Posted by: williamhill [Member] On: May 22, 2005 )

Pardon me
For taking so long to respond publicly.

I was thinking about my friend's Father going through cancer treaments--wishing I had a cure.
I got mad about nasty PM's--wishing I had a cure.
I wanted Charlie and Lilia to stop--wished I had a cure.
How to keep all the good and toss the bad? The Flood and Noah and who picks Noah?
Penelope was right, drsoos would have made a good Noah. Emlyn was right I had no malicious intent. Gomar is right, I failed.
When Crowe put up his comment I emailed him to apologize. He has accepted my apology but I still feel bad. The damage is done.
As for Viper, yes I commented and said I was Wilma. My username was going to be WilmaHill wife of William, but with all the fighting going on I did not want to post something and be attached to all that, so Simplyput was my second choice. When you posted your Boyhowdy apology I beleived you and your reasons for doing it.
I'm not going to comment on your conspiracy theories.
Thanks to you all, Janeen

( Posted by: simplyput [Member] On: May 22, 2005 )

on the other hand

It's O.K. to use cancer, tumors etc. as metaphors for what we see as growing problems. It's unfortunate that "letter to Crowe" happened while his wife has cancer. It's still a strong and useful metaphor.

Should I stop using "on the other hand" because my friend has only one hand? Could I not say "See what I mean?" to Stevie Wonder? Should I not write about death because life is fatal? Many here have medical problems known and unknown. Must we tiptoe on eggshells?

I regret the pain that this world hands to us all, sooner or later. We each have our beliefs or lack thereof regarding what lies beyond. My wife and I both lost both parents to cancer but that will not prevent me from comparing, for instance, the alarmingly growing trade deficit to a "malignant tumor of debt".

Give 'em hell, Jeneen. There ain't no innocents in this playground- not for long, anyway.

Crowe: Prayers for your family
Crowe: I missed all of this until just now. I am not one who really prays, but in this case, I am going to. I don't know you (outside of being helpful and patient when I've had "glitches" here)or your wife. I do know this was the last thing needed in your lives, at this time. I hope things are going better for you and yours.

Godspeed to you and your wife.
