Mr. Emerid's Baaaaaaaaaaaccccckkk...you may now hide from the Column called...BADOOM DABOOM!!
Okay Dumb name, give me a break. If you've seen me works, you know I su-diddly-uck at names, but have good content.....most of the time. Now, I'm here to give out tips, quips, quotes, and assorted advice.
For the Next Column or two, I shall focus on the Comedic, the Humor, the FUNNY STUFF!!!
Today we'll start out with what I call INTERACTIVE humor, which is basically two or more personalities bouncing off each other. Let me demonstrate with Two Random Characters; One will be Brave, Heroic, and your classic Cheesy hero we'll Call...Captain BOB. The Other will be his reluctant, realistic, sarcastic sidekick we'll call RALPH.
Captain Bob: Ahh Ralph! Ready to start the day?
Ralph: 'Bout as ready to start the day as I am Ready for an Enema!
Captain Bob: Once again we have foiled A Villianous Plot to take over the world!
Ralph: Whoop De F'n Do! Now we'll foil another one TOMMOROW! AND THE NExT DAY AND THE NEXT...AND THE NEXT...
Captain Bob: I sense you are a bit stressed Ralph.
Ralph: NO DUH! I guess you managed to realize that after you pulled them tights outta your crack!!
The Key to good Interactive humor, besides Personalities, is to add a touch of REALISM. I mean, who of us would ACTUALLY embrace the idea of saving the world whole heartedly? Hell no! What we'd do is Wet our pants and scream like girls! So you add that into the whole Personality Equation! Allow me to demonstrate again;
Captain Bob: Ralph! I need you to save the world.
Ralph: Riiiight.......AM I ON CANDID CAMERA?!
That's probably how we'd all act, so you ADD that in. But the Real Key is to add just a TOUCH of realism to complete Fiction, you want your funny Fanfic to still be out of control, but out of control Realistically. This is open to debate also, all this is MY advice.
Now, it get's harder when you add in more personalities, I.E when you have three People instead of just two. Two is easy, piece of cake, but when you get MORE than that...that's the tricky stuff. Now I'll add in a Third character to Bob and Ralph, I'll add in; A Seductive Temptress spy trying to coax secrets out of Bob, and we'll call her....NIKKI!!!
Nikki: My, your base is so splendid! But I wonder, where do you keep the Secret Files?
Bob: Eheheeheh, why, just down this corridor!
Ralph: Bob, you are so WHIPPED.
Bob: What was that?!
Bob: I Could've Sworn you said that I was...
Nikki: C'mon Bob...show me the files darling...
Bob: Ahuhuh Yes Dear..
Ralph: So totally whipped....
The More characters you add into the mix, the harder it gets. My suggestion is that you focus on only two characters at a time. But if you have a habit of talking to yourself, well, Three characters is nothing.
Well that's about it for now, But I shall leave you with some parting words....
"You can Rely on instinct for about 15 minutes, after that, you better know something."
