This is kind of a tribute to the Iraq war, or a memorial of any war you want it to be.

Me and a friend sing it, i'm person 1 if you were wondering.

What do you think?

By My Side
Tom Parson & Emily Galvin 2005

Verse 1

Person 1:
If I should I would
Leave a letter for you my love, my love
To find when it's nearly over
But I don't know whether I oughta

Person 2:
Every day I would
Check my mailbox again my love, my love
To see if you've posted somethin'

Verse 2

Person 1:
If I could I would
Come back home to live with you my love, my love
Then it would be over faster
But I don't know whether I know where

Person 2:
If I could I would
Come and fight with you my love, my love
Then it'd be over faster but
Will I still find you there...?

Verse 3

Person 1:
In the blood and mud
I saw you standing there above, holding out your hand for me
But it was a dream
I cried myself to sleep.

Person 2:
In my bed I would
Turn over and see you there instead, my love, lying right there next to me
But always a dream;
I cry myself to sleep.

And I know
I've been alone
For a long time.

And I think it shows,
Even though
The sun it don't shine.

And it seems
I don't believe
In God no more

And i've had dreams
In which i've seen
You with eyes so sore
So sore...

Verse 4

Person 1:

It's the same here every day
I tell myself it's ok
'Cause I know somewhere you're waiting
As I die inside

Surrounded by brothers
Yet I feel still alone
There are no others when you're not
By my side

Hate this place
Everyone's fallen from grace
It's all for nothing when you're not / It seems like nothing when you're
By my side

Person 2 [Harmonising with above]:
It's the same here almost all the time
In my dreams in the end through the smoke you fly
By my side, at least i see you face in the air
When you go to heaven I hope i'll see you there
