To my old friend, I'm sorry
To the one who means the world, I never meant to hurt you
To the one who I'll never forget, I wish you the best
This poem I write, every word is true
Maybe one day you'll read it
And realise it's all about you

To walk through life without you
Is like walking on jagged rocks
Blistered and broken
Since your footprints faded away
Where would tomorrow be if you were in it?
Would the sun shine on this clouded sky?

A word of spite, a word of hope
To remember, to forget
To banish, to love
To throw away, to cherish forever
Love supposedly comes eventually, but I'll tell you a story

A man lived his life, he met a girl
And as he grew older and the world had turned a million times
He threw his thoughts to the sky
"I will never find someone like her"
Well that man is forty-eight, he met her in his early twenties
This story is real, I met him once
As he smoked his cigarette, the ashes falling out
He looked alive and content, you would never know
He lost his true love long ago

Listening to his story was captivating
It made me solemnly and forever believe
That love isn't ballad or a destination
You can be running a mile or be slower and patient
It cannot be faked; feelings in your heart will always be true
And once it's gone, it doesn't always come back and there's nothing more you can do

I wish I could tell you I love you
I guess the words have already been said
Though only three insignificant words
It was right there in the final words, my heart was bled
It still pains to know I've pushed you away
Regret and remorse throughout the days
Sometimes in life you make a mistake and it's a toll your conscience always pays

To look in your eyes and tell you I'm sorry
To promise to honour and respect you
Because to me you are precious
To hear your sweet laugh again
And hope to never see you cry
To make you realise you're beautiful!
Like a sea of stars in a midnight sky
Life was like a caterpillar stuck in a dark cocoon
It emerged a colourful butterfly just through knowing you

This is not lust
Not in for one night stands
The love I feel for you
Could spread over the whole world's entire oceans and lands

But no matter where life leads you
You will cast your light onto everything you do
Shine like an angel until your days are through

To my old friend, I've said it
To the one who used to mean the world, I will always seem to upset you
To the one I'll hopefully one day forget, I still wish you the best
Maybe one day you'll read this
And laugh at this poem and being in love with you

To walk through life without you
Is like walking on soft grainy sand
Healing and no longer broken
Your footprints have faded too long ago
Tomorrow's sun will shine onto these clouded skies
Because we both have those who will walk by our side

The man is still single
That part remains true
Love isn't a fairytale
And neither it seems were you
Wasn't asking to fake what you didn't feel
But one answer when I took a chance and leapt
But instead you decided to keep your silence as through the days I wept

If I looked into your eyes, you would probably turn away
If I called you, you would hang up
If I sent you a letter, it would go unopened
If I sent you an email, you would never mention these words
Even in dreams of the night you seem to hate me
I'm not the one to tell you you're beautiful
You'll realise it already or hear it from someone who's made for you

Thought it was madness
These thoughts must be crazy
But then someone came along who thought you were special too
He gave you his heart
You stayed for a while then turned away
But he still seemed to think of you everyday
We talked it over, it helped us move on
We talked for a while, but now he is gone

But no matter where life leads you
You will cast your light onto everything you do
Shine like an angel until your days are through
Love finds us in unexpected ways
And when that day comes but no-one knows who
Then things will be alright because you will feel the same way about the person as they feel about you

And let the ashes fly...
There were so many parts of it that I liked so much. I do not feel regret, only a shadow of what is no longer there, like the memory of autumn when it's already winter. :) Touching!
