When I sit and think of days gone by
I wonder how I made it through
The struggles, hardships and pain
And would I live it all again?

To come as far as I have come
To see my children grown and gone
As I watch them persevere and strive
I'm so thankful I'm alive.

Now that I've come from young to old
I understand the truth of life
The wondering 'why?' with no clear sight
Like the dawn of day from the dark of night.

I talk with young ones from today
And hear their plight and feel their pain
I think of all those days gone by
Remembering it and at times I cry.

I shift my thoughts from now to then
I recall the memories now past
How I thought they'd never end
And yes..I'd live it all again!
