I still remember
How I thought that things would be
And I still recall
My expectations lying around me
Like bits of broken glass
Reflecting back
A distorted image better off not grasped

Still thinking of you
And your jaunty walk through my heart
Charting territory
To later go through and tear apart
Iíve told this story
Once before
I can still hear you faintly snoring

Iíd give up anything
To not remember
Your squinting eyes
In the snows of December
Or your fancy footwork
Down my porch steps
In the slick of the rain
As the sky gently wept

Do you remember
The awfully subtle break in rhythm
When it began
Surrounded by pictures of you with him
Gasping for air
In this sea
Drowning in your blank loveless stare

Iím still waiting
For your hand beneath my fingers
Phantom pulsing
Of my long gone heart still lingers
Searching for you now
Wantonly hoping
That again Iíll have you somehow

Tracks laid long ago
Pry up extremely easily
Just as youíve shown
Now if youíll pardon me
I have a doctor to see
Who will scribble down
A sweet prescription
To take me up and above
To break my addiction
With manufactured love

This is who youíre leaving
The shell of a man who isnít able
To be loved
A man whoís cracked his head upon the table
So you finally know
What he thinks of you
But was never able to show

Your letter reads
P.S. our love isnít here anymore
It went with you
When you left out that open door
And itís cold in the shadows
Of your past
Just a crease in your heart that still folds
Before the wind rips it apart
Before the wind rips it apart
