Chapter 6 of for better or worse, this is the truth
Jeff is a good, lucky, man. Heís my work partner and closest friend. Iíve known him sins we were dumb ass students in law school. He knew I was a homosexual and was comfortable with it. His younger brother, Garit was a homosexual and died two years back from HIV. Jeff knew the hard ships that some homosexuals lived and knew how to treat certain people in certain ways. With respect and compassion. Nothing more or less. Jeff married a beautiful woman, Glorya. They have two beautiful children. Boy and girl. Jeff honored me once before, asking me if I would be his best man. And then again when his first and only son was born. They named him Dicky, after me. I was honored both times and still am to this day. Frank and I married in Canada but in America we are not considered a legal couple. I knew this would happen but thought nothing of it. We knew we were married. Thatís all that mattered and counted. Frank wanted to adopt a child but the law prohibited it in certain areas. For our first wedding anniversary I bought Frank a pit bull puppy. We named her Rosa. I knew Rosa couldnít match the feeling of having your own child to raise and protect and love. But no law prohibited homosexuals from having dogs. Someday Frank and I will be a legal couple and adopt a legal child. But until that day comes, Rosa is our child. And we will love, protect, nurture, support, and raise her all we can. For better or worse, this is the truth.
