I Miss Him So Much

I pray about Jason every night.

I know that he’s coming back home.
I miss him so much, and Paula does too.
I’ve been praying and praying and praying
About Jason.
I miss him so much.
I liked that he gave me my hat
That said “Coombs” on it.
I brought it to show-n-tell
And they all thinked it was very good.
And I miss him so much!

I like this one the best Kyle
I have read many of your poems Kyle, but this one has always been my favorite. Your hat is very special and I hope you always know it's worth. Keep writing, I know that it will only get better! You are a very smart boy! Cherish your "Coombs" hat!

nice poem
Hi Kyle. This is smithy. This is a very nice poem about Jason. He must be a good person and I hope you get to spend lots of time with him soon. I wonder what type of hat it is? Is it a cap?

Paula might mention this too, but there is another word for "thinked" that we use which is "thought". It's a bit like "hided" and "hid".

Other than that, this one was perfect. Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading more of your poems.

Tina louise - this is Kyle
Thank you for reading my poem about my brother, Jason in Iraq. He is not in Iraq now, he's home - sort of - he's in New York for a while.

I did feel better when I wrote the poem about Jason. We were waiting for him to come home. He was in the war for a long time. I was four when he left and six when he came back. He was in the war but didn't get killed or hurt.

When we are done writing messages back to people who read my poems, Paula and I are going to work in our gardens.

I have my own garden, you know. Today I am going to plant tulips, lillies, Dahlias and glads.

I had a vegetable garden last year all myself and we got so much corn we had to give some away.

Thank you for reading my poem.

Elle - My hat
I do cherish my hat. It's really cool. I have other hats too, like my army hat that Jason gave me first. It is green cammy. The other one is desert cammy.

Paula and Daddy buy me hats with teams on them too and a nike hat. Mom bought me a hat with and 8 on it for Junior and a black spiderman hat with plastic spiderman stuff on the front.

I got to go, Cody is here to help me in my garden. He's five.

Smithy - Jason's hat
Hi Smithy - it's me Kyle again.

Paula is teaching me to type all by myself and pretty soon all my messages will be just from me. I have to tell her what to write and she types my notes for me really fast. Then she reads them back to me and we send them if I like them or change them if I forget to tell something.

The kind of hat that Jason bought me that the kids at school "thought" was good, is a boonie cap. All the soldiers wear them there and he had my name put on it with thread and brought it to me when he was home on leave last year.

Did you know I played in the mud today? Paula let me. She had the hose out and fresh dirt that we moved out behind the house. Cody came over and we brought my toys out there and got so muddy! She even had to hose off our legs before we went in the house.

She taught me how to make one part deep by taking the dirt out and putting it to make a dam.

Gotta go now, I have some icecream to eat. For real. With chocolate fudge on it.

Thank you that you read my poem and that you liked it, too. I am going to write more soon.

Yes you are right about "hid". We figured out that I get it figured out and then I go to my Mom's and watch "The Rugrats" all the time and on that show, they said stuff like "hided" and then it sounds right to me because my Mom doesn't teach me that, just Dad and Paula.

Thank you for reminding me that. Paula didn't tell me when I was making my poem.

Bye Bye Smithy!

Your New Friend,
