Monkeys poison refreshing water,
Quickly flowing clear to red.
Shaming even purest intention,
Nothing shifted, only voices in your head.

What animals stir inside your skull,
Do daemons linger there?
What conversations do you have,
Under hard bone, skin and hair?

In power you can hush them,
A victim you talk back.
Laziness or consciousness,
Choosing life between white and black.

Dwell and wallow overburdened,
Swimming in shame and regret.
Meaningless chatter between you and you,
An obsessive over thought fret.

The magic pill is found in others,
Risk the remedy and let them in.
Each friend is your zookeeper,
Capturing and quieting the din.

In the place of evil chatter,
Is now a friends peaceful voice.
Believing in your very best,
Supporting your dreams with choice.

Freedom is living life without needing perfection

imagery and much more, didn't know where this was really coming from then read it and still don't but that's 1 of the reasons why it does quite well.

Have you ever doubted something you have done? There is no reason for you to doubt, you know you did the right thing. But the "monkey in your head" tell you that it is not true. Have you ever lost fifteen pounds and looked in the mirror and still felt like it was not good enough? The monkeys in your head are telling you that. They rob you of peace, and calling a good friend and having them support you in your truth is the only way out.
