the sun
during a lunar eclipse,
are the off-color burns
to a hobgoblin's lips.
Black is the color
of the bodies that rot,
from the numerous wars
you happily fought.
Black is the sea
that was once stained Red,
worms dig in the soil
to feed on the dead.
Black is everlasting death,
a childhood friend,
and the color of your spine
my knee's going to bend.
Black is the soul
with original sin,
a baby that's baptized
with a sinister grin.
Black is the aroma
of stale midnight air,
people crawl at this hour
and snarl when they care.
Black is my heart
with a threshold of pain,
frozen in selfishness
from the cold winter rain.
Black is my ego,
a bird with clipped wings,
and the throat that I slashed
so I can't hear you sing.

where one's style of writing comes from deep within.
I don't plan to change the world; just trying to leave my mark.

Color Poem
When I was in high school, my junior year, I was introduced to poetry as homework. I was assigned to write a poem about a color; any color we wanted and I chose black. To me, black was the color of many things, most of them dark and twisted. At the time, my head was going through traumatic situations while my outward appearance remained cloaked in black threads. I was assigned to write anything, that included the color; a very easy assignment. When I turned my poem into my teacher -who was a very elderly woman with the vocal speed of a possum- I thought I was given on opportunity to finally express myself. The next day, I received my poem back with a message at the top:
"This poem is too perfect.
Submit your own poem for points.
I had to prove that this was my poem. I had with me the rough draft and a friend who saw me write it. She offered an apology and gave me the points. From that point, I found my "gift." She told me that my best way to communicate was through writing. I'm glad so many of you have left so many comments for me to see, and read. I love, man. It's the best way to get know with instant feedback. Thanks bra!
