Bad Boy

A bad boy, a bad boy,
That is what I am.
That is what I have been
For countless years on end.
I am standing in the corner,
Trying not to cry,
Knowing that every commercial,
Along youíll come,
And tell me what I am.

A bad boy, a bad boy,
Itís what you make me say
While I stand for hours in that corner.
Iím sorry I disgraced you,
Iím sorry youíre ashamed,
I wish I knew where I belonged,
And who really loves me,
But it seems all Iíll ever be to you
Is just a bad, bad boy.

A bad boy, a bad boy,
But what exactly did I do
That made me so bad?
Was it because I sort of yelled a little?
Or that glass of milk I spilled?
I never meant to,
I try to say,
But you wonít listen to me,
As you smack me to the floor.

A bad boy, a bad boy,
Thatís all Iíll ever be.
The corner got old,
And now itís just your fists.
But all I can remember
Is all the pain that welled inside,
When you threw me down,
And kicked me around,
When all I said was, ďSorry.Ē

A bad boy, a bad boy,
I am such a bad, bad boy.
I accidentally told on you today.
At school they asked about my bruises,
And I told them it was you.
I told them everything they asked,
As I cried and tried to lie.
And when they called at home,
You looked at me and I felt like dying.

A bad boy, a bad boy,
But those arenít the only words you used.
For what seemed like hours,
You ranted, raved, and swore,
As you slammed me to the floor,
And yelled at me to get back up.
But I remember at the end,
I whispered the words, ďI love you, Mommy,Ē
And I fell into eternal darkness.

What a sad story. I don't know what say, I'm in a state of shock. The concept was quite brilliant and it really reads well. The last line however, I think can be rephrased.

Strange, this actually can sound like a song.
