One side of the story, the truth is apparent
Different story, the lie is inherent
Everything has happened in this world sometime
Every type of kindness, every kind of crime
Wisdom and passion, folly and lust
Overflowing with people, ready to bust
So give up your dreams and your goals in life
Forget that dream job and that trophy wife
You’re just a drop in the bucket of people
Your death won’t be marked by a bell tolling steeple
Life has no meaning or creator at all
No Adam or Eve, no pre-curse fall
The love that you have and others for you
Is all in you mind, it never was true
Simply put, life sucks, then you die
Why do we work? Why do we try?
Drinking too much is the only answer
You’ll die sooner or later, most likely from cancer
Real answers come from out of the blue
Wouldn’t life suck if all this was true?

Life's a Bitch?
Carter,

The answer is yes, but there are some truths in there!

'Everything has happened in this world sometime
Every type of kindness, every kind of crime'

'You’re just a drop in the bucket of people
Your death won’t be marked by a bell tolling steeple'

I liked this and your ironic take on the subject, but I would love to see you attempt to rewrite this same verse from a positive point of view.

Well Done,

Ivor

From out of the blue
Well, I was ready to prescribe Prozac until the last lines. Good one, Carter. You stretched a little to make one or two of the rhymes, but this is clever, and makes it clear you have the poetic mind--tortured and ironic.
