“Stick it with a fork- it’s done.”

Why do people say that? You stick it with a fork to see if it’s done. If it’s done there’s no need to stick it with a fork.

“Stick it with a fork and see if it’s done.”- O.K.

“It’s done- stick it with a fork if you don’t believe me.”- O.K.

“Stick it with a fork- it’s done.”- no NO NOOOO!

You just may see a headline someday- “MURDERED MAN STUCK WITH FORK-HE’S DONE”

I guess that’s about it. Stick me with a fork- I’m done.

Funny stuff
Thanks for the chuckle! And, good point.

Maybe the phrase has evolved so that we just don't say the word "because" ('s done)anymore. Sort of how we will soon not have baby toes anymore.
