The sun rises and the sun sets
She loves me today, tomorrow she forgets
Coffee this late? I realize with a start
Steam radiates like love off the heart
Cold winters night, love keeps me awake
Fire dies out, I start with a shake
Drifted off to dream dreams of her
Memories of you beginning to blur
What on Earth can I possibly do?
Memories gone like smoke up the flue
No man is an island, but how can this be
Everyone I ever loved is gone from me
In what direction can my love go?
To whom can I let my emotions show?
Marooned on this lonely island of love
Peace and serenity fit like a glove
My coat and my heart I shrug off until later
All I can think about is life without her
Why does my life always have to change?
Change all about and rearrange
Itís a season of life and no mater how I feel
The fear and the pain make love real.

I am a hopeless romantic as well. This is a nice poem.
Just wanted to point out this.....
"Drifted off to dream dreams of her
Memories of you beginning to blur
What on Earth can I possibly do?"

The "you"....and the "her"...sounds like 2 different people. Not sure if this is what is meant, doesn't lean that way.

Also 3rd last line "mater" should be matter.
If you tighten the grammar, punctuation as well it would be great.

I really like this poem. Going to read more of you Carter....keep on writing it is a wonderful way of healing, directing and sharing. Thank you for this.
