Note: "Cleave" means "join together" in this piece (it's Biblical.)

A clever fiend has found you out
and robbed all joy, no matter what.
Depression dives in deepest doubt,
in vain attempts to flesh it out
while living with a bigger "But..."

No faith can fit within this frame
where every thought consumes, "what if...?"
One's "but" grows larger just the same,
in doubting God in every claim.
Your big "but" dangles off the cliff.

You cannot save your "but" and live.
True faith can lift you from this rut.
Reject doubt as a sedative.
Ingest the grace the Lord will give
or settle for your bigger "but."

To lose your "but" you must receive,
with all your heart, strength, soul, and mind
the love of God, and to Him cleave.
Without a doubt, you don't believe
a bigger "but" leaves you behind.
