I had hardly been able to forget the news that a father raped his daughter in Pernem, Goa, India last month that my Sunday blues shuddered with a shock. “K.G. student raped?” It is comprehendible that girls in their full flush of youth, especially the ones who go to discotheques who drink, dine and dance to socialize with the opposite sex give ample opportunity to those lusty eyes to play their black guardly tricks. But a 3 year old girl? This incident should be an alarm to all the parents who should now wake up to the fact that their kids, both, boys and girls, no matter what age are no more safe not even in the hands of close relatives, trusted neighbors and friends. A Sharp increase in cases of child abuse, molestation and minor rapes will prove me right! Such incidents leave psychological scars for a life time that blemish a child’s personality. Many NGO’s are bending over backwards to create awareness among children and their parents regarding the situation. This mission to save our children and their childhood will not be a success until and unless parents and guardians play an active role. It is the responsibility of the parents to make a child aware of this abuser-abuse situation without embarrassing or confusing them. We should not depend on teachers, schools, books and friends to teach our children about their body, which they are often curious about and definitely sexuality. Sex education combined with moral education should be imparted to kids at home itself. To understand a child’s psychology and behavior we need to communicate effectively with him. Be vigilant about any changes in his/her behavior. Let our children know that our love and support will be there under any circumstances. In case of abuse, do not make the child feel guilty or ashamed of what has happened. Finally, it is obvious that the culprits manage to abscond. It is the determination of the police that will bring such perverts in the grip of law who should further be electrocuted for such an unforgivable offence. I personally feel that the punishment for the rape of a minor should be nothing less than death sentence. I hope at least then, such criminals will fear law.

Paragraphs!
It's possible that you did write this with paragraphs - there is a glitch in the submission system that occasionally strips out all the line feeds in a post.

But whether it was accidental or not, this piece definitely needs a few paragraph breaks. It's quite hard to read without them.

I did percevere, though: it is a well-written and thought provoking article. Quite uncomfortable reading in places. (It is a very sad thing: In parts of Africa, child rape has become almost an epidemic, where local beliefs claim that it is a cure for Aids. It is causing untold misery)

Well written
This piece was well written. I agree with Spudley about the spacing. Paragraphs would make it an easier read.

One thing I take issue with is the portion near the beginning of the article regarding age. Whether a child is at a disco, drinking, and wearing the most seductive clothes on the planet, it is no less horrible for a familial rape to occur. Careful that we don’t blame the victim, at ANY age. This not only causes severe harm at young impressionable ages, but at any age.

Great issue to bring to light. Great job.
