C
One fat gland removed,
Does not define a woman,
It's absence is often,
the presence of life......
in each breath,
the gift of recovery,
is the birth of new found vision.

A breast is NOT the core,
of her infinite being,
It is NOT the end of her appeal.
But, the scar that leaves witness,
is the mark of chartacter,
defined by survival,
Made real to the world,
by the wound of the flesh.

She is faith in adversity,
She is light in sable darkness,
She IS the gift,
of all things that culminate life,
She is a woman.....
A wife.....
And a mother........

Not a fat gland removed.

The Big C
This is weird for me because I usually stay well away from all the sensitive stuff in lue of blood and gore however the strength of this poem is amazing. It's direct statements are extremely good.
I thinks it's the no holds barred approach into what often is a tabooed subject which grads me the most. Please take this a s a compliment from someone who is fairly naive on the subject.

Take care

All I can say is
This piece is full of spiritual strength
your words in the last stanza are essential...
I imagine this poem is a source of hope and a new light for every woman who suffers breast cancer or have recovered from it

well done
