Gulping in air
sucking at the surface.
Waiting- always waiting
for it to come each day.
Round and round, this circular life.
Always going, always
coming back to here.
No one notices the tears.
Everyday the same- the only option
a marble slab.
I may as well stay.

Not the poem which we have read, but that to which we return, with the greatest pleasure, possesses the power and claims the name of essential poetry.

Trapped and resigned
Rather than Life, this sounds like clinical depression. Sad in a wearying kind of way. Nicely crafted though. -Philo

Thanks everyone for coming by. This was an excise in metaphor. I love metaphor and use it in my day job all the time. I was observing something and tried to write it in metaphor and this dark piece come out. I'm so sunny and positive - it always surprises me. Panache Rogan, high praise from you and gratefully accepted. thanks, huni.
