We stood together
on a hill of our unborn regrets.
the rain fell silver slow,
casting no shadow.

Lead me not,
I can walk alone.
Words are colder in the rain,
Your hand was broken from mine.

only to stand,
grasping for the cause,
the silence could shatter glass.
Break a heart.

I could have screamed
I could have died.
Anything to stop the thunder in this
silence.

When words broke,
I broke.
The rain stopped,
all in horrified anticipation.

Splintering the words,
painful in our resolution.
The rain was gone
and so was I.
