I awoke this morning to a joyful sound,
one I knew I had heard before,
as I tried to focus my sleep-filled eyes,
I heard the sound once more.

A ray of sun, the morning light,
the warmth of a new days start,
could not compare or begin describe
the feelings welling up in my heart.

For the source of the sound I had awoken to,
was found standing by my head,
she took my hand and smiled at me,
then climbed up in the bed.

As I held her close and kissed her cheek,
she managed one last peep,
she asked if mommy had gone to work,
then drifted off to sleep.
