LIKE PEBBLES AND SHELLS ON LIFE’S BEACH

Life’s surface changes constantly.
Many challenges and frustrations
often wear down its façade like the
tides and waves eroding; devouring the
face of a once clean clear shoreline,
leaving scattered shattered carapaces,
clutter, gouges and depressions that the
Sea of Living leaves behind while
carelessly carving her impressions.

After a serious series of
trouble tidewaters rising and falling,
we take a few brief moments to
survey the washed-over dreams, desires
and hopes left behind by the cold
abrasive currents of complications and
disturbances consuming our
shrinking shores of options and
opportunities we once cherished,
and we see them waiting to be collected
like pebbles and shells on life’s beach.
