New lambs in baskets
cricket on the kitchen hearth
icy wind outside

Not the poem which we have read, but that to which we return, with the greatest pleasure, possesses the power and claims the name of essential poetry.

Thank you both for reading and rating this one. This is a little vignette from my childhood. We would often come out to see lambs and other sundry animals being kept alive by mum at our big wood fired, kitchen range. I still love that image, knowing my dad was out in the night saving these little guys.. regards huni.

Reordered lambs
I thought about this and I think to me this would be more haiku-dramatic :

icy wind outside
cricket on the kitchen hearth
New lambs in baskets
