You just don't get it do you, do you?
Look past the words at the person
They have all the answers, questions
Emotions and thoughts in their heads.
Ask the pale poet not the lost letters.
You can't see past the surface, can you?
Materialistic views, beauty skin deep
The surface is only ill-fated words
Beneath lies the rivers of knowledge
The fires of passion, pain and pride.
You won't understand the river rapids.
Itís too dangerous, chaotic, maddening
Frail sanity I lost so many years ago
Hidden in the undercurrents of meaning
So deep that you suffocate and drown.
You shouldn't dive so deep, but you must.
The true meaning lies in the depths alone.
Never that which you first believes it was.
So look deeper, further down, even further
There it is the fathomless entity of truth.
Can you see it, that murky shade so deep?
Reach out, take it and understand at last
The emotions that flow through this mind
The thoughts that stem from a single speck
See the reality, let the real me shine through.
~ I wrote this poem upon thinking about the repsonses I have been having to my poems recently and the complete and utter misunderstanding of them that people can have. I imagine I would be just as bad with anothers poetry but then that is because only the poet itself knows the true meaning of any of its writing. So, here we go, enjoy! ~
P.S. A suggestion for a better title is welcomed, I know it is horrible.
Give me a reason to love life
Prove to me happiness is real
Show me the undying light of hope
And I will cast away the darkness.
