(When I wrote/read this I heard/hear the drum beat on every syllable almost like itís the lyrics to a song. Kind of like a mantra)

The beat of the drum

is coming for you
The heartbeat of death

is found in the tune
Its sound is seducing
like a sirenís sweet call
Glory for you
is its promise to all
The Devil whispers
in a rhythmic beat
ďDie for your country
donít question the feat.Ē
Soon you are singing
a tune you donít know
The drum beat has got you
and itís not letting go
You step into to line

with another manís lies
Drink in the violence

and swat the flies
The taste of blood

the smell of flesh
Your soul is gone

soon will the rest
Youíve killed your fill

now its your turn
You die with pride

but you still burn
And all you hear

is a slow pounding drone
The Devil is sitting

with drum and throne
Heís laughing and playing

thereís no where to run
Because everyoneís dancing
to the beat of the drum

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
-Dwight D. Eisenhower
