Don't put me in the cold, damp, dark ground
I don't like the darkness, it feels like it engulfs me and smothers me
I am here, put your ear to my coffin and maybe you will hear a sound
Open my coffin, I an here and you will see.

I am in the springtime of my life, I am too young to die
I still see everything around me, but I have no body for you to see
Don't put shell of a body in the ground, this act I do defy
I am yelling! Don't you hear my pleas and cries? I am here, don't you see?

My future looks like I will be entombed and thrown away
You said you loved me now I feel betrayed
In my entire life I have never loved anyone like I do you, so from you I would never stray
I can see everything, I remain very aware, this awful game I do not wish to play.

Go to my coffin, open it and you will see
I don't think I am dead, but I reach for my body and I just can't find it
Don't put my coffin in the ground and cover me with the damp earth, I am here! Don't you see?
I thought you loved me so don't put me in a deep dark pit.

People are standing all around while it seems a eulogy is being said
All the crying and the sobbing. Everybody look! I am here
I can see and hear everything, but I guess I really am dead
They now lower the coffin into the ground, as others cry silent tears.
