Vendetta

It eats unbidden, unwelcome, uncontrolled,
Devouring all in its path from dire starvation
Destroying all those who would stand against
Itís deathly grip tightens, ever painful, lethal.

One victim it chooses, vulnerable and alone
Following their scent, it finds those closest
Forever searching with a malicious vendetta
One victim is never enough, all must pay.

No one escape its brutal, vindictive wrath
Leaving no place to hide it infects and grows
Lost in the darkness we sit, hoping it leaves us
No one escapes it, neither organ nor person.

Its cells mutate from health and happiness
Delivering a death sentence as it grows
Destruction of a life, downfall of a family
Intent on demise, it surrounds it victim
One by one, all are taken, then it is after me!

~ I'll see if you can figure out what 'it' is, good luck ... oh and this one was written 2 weeks ago. ~

------
Give me a reason to love life
Prove to me happiness is real
Show me the undying light of hope
And I will cast away the darkness.

Vendetta
" Vendetta's are alive & well and living in the urban jungles of American gang life. "

I am unsure of exactly why this is relevent, this poem is about cancer because it seems to have a vendetta against me. That was supposed to be indicated by the whole "Its cells mutate" bit.
