The 19th Annual CBG Fan Awards were annnounced in the May 25 edition (#1436) of Comics Buyer's Guide, with several DC publications, creators and characters being chosen as readers' favorites. CHOICE HOTELS TO GIVE AWAY CARTOON NETWORK TITLES

This summer, Choice Hotels International locations around the country will give away special printings of CARTOON CARTOONS #1 and THE POWERPUFF GIRLS #13 to guests, totalling over one million copies.

The issues, which will be available at Comfort Inns, Quality Inns, Sleep Inns, Clarion Hotels, and MainStay Suites from June through August, carry advertisements featuring the Comics Shop Locator Service number.

"We're thrilled to have Choice Hotels International as our partner this summer," says Joel Ehrlich, DC's Senior VP - Advertising & Promotions. "Between the Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and all the other great characters appearing in these two giveaways, kids and their families are going to love these comics."

NEWS FROM THE MAINSTREAM PRESS

The June/July issue of Blender, a new magazine from the publishers of Maxim, briefly reviews BIZARRO COMICS, giving it four stars, and THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN HC, giving it five stars.

The April 21 edition of the U.K. magazine Kerrang reviews the HELLBLAZER: HARD TIME TP, which Ray Zell calls "Gruesome and captivating stuff for fans of blood, shadows, and ... nasty sex." That issue also reviews the BATMAN: NO MAN'S LAND Vol. 3 TP, which Zell calls "Dark and provocative stuff."

The April 28 edition of The Washington Times features an article on TOP 10 entitled "Cops from Another World Face Reality of Earth Life," in which Joseph Szadkowski writes, "I am thrilled with [artist] Gene Ha's work on the series."

The April 25 edition of The Birmingham Post-Herald features an article on the third printing of GREEN ARROW #1 in which Andrew A. Smith ("Captain Comics") credits the success of the series to its overall quality, writing "GREEN ARROW is an absorbing read, and the Captain recommends it."

The April 29 Springfield, MA, Sunday Republican carried an article entitled "Collections Provide the Greatest Value," in which Michael Sangiacomo reviews the two PLANETARY hardcover collections (ALL OVER THE WORLD AND OTHER STORIES and THE FOURTH MAN), writing "[Warren] Ellis' creativity, his ability to make the mundane mysterious, drives this comic."

The April 29 edition of The Syracuse Herald-American carries a column entitled "Comics from Above and Below," in which Jeff Kapalka reviews ENEMY ACE: WAR IN HEAVEN, writing "[Chris] Weston and [Christian] Alamy's artwork is fine, and shows a nice eye toward period detail."
