November skies are here again
No puffy clouds just hues of gray
One day trees full of autumn leafs
In an instant lay bare to strong zephyrs.
Groundís covered with browns and rusts
Awaiting winds to swirl them in cyclones
Bare dark trees rise against dark skies
Awaiting virginal for first fall of snow
Sun sets early, mercury drops, rains fall
Jackets, gloves, hats, woodpiles stocked
Welcome home, come in and warm yourself
Homes waft of stews and fresh baked breads
Windows glowing with light and chimney smokes
At home at last warm and in for the night

I miss it!

I miss November! During the fall I am always in Israel, a Midwestern boy under the cloudless skies. Now I don't remember the drudgery of raking leaves; I think of hot-piping chili and the family watching Lawrence Welk and then Star Trek at 6 pm.
