PROBABLY the best debut album I've ever purchased(next to "Appetite For Destruction" by Guns 'n Roses), "Hybrid Theory" by Linkin Park is a work of musical art. By combining a barrage of rapcore style, AKA rap+rock, with a tremendously speedy bit of DJ'ing, "Hybrid Theory" has kept me hooked.

Number 1: "Papercut"(3:05 min.)

The fourth song released from the album and the third song from the album that a video was made for.

"Papercut" is a digital masterpiece, beginning with scratch tactics, and ending the same. Chester Bennington's "soprano" voice coincides perfectly with the jam-out playing of guitarist Brad Delson.

"Papercut" seems to represent the inner stuggles of society today.

"It's like I'm paranoid
Looking over my back

It's like a whirlwind
Inside of my head

It's like I can't stop
What I'm hearing within

It's like the face inside
Is right beneath my skin"

Number 2: "One Step Closer"(2:36 min.)

First song released and first song a video was created for.

Arguably the best song on the album, "One Step Closer" sticks to the true roots of classic rock. Pure guitar is used along with some rad drum beats dished out by Rob Bourdon.

This song may represent the coming of an age of understanding mixed with an age of total chaos. "I'm one step closer to the EDGE, and I'm about to BREAK." .... The edge could be insanity, or total udnerstanding, and "break" could be the opening of one of the two.

"I cannot take this anymore
Saying everything I've said before
All these words, they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Less I hear, the less you'll say
But you'll find that out anyway"

Number 3: "With You"(3:23 min.)

Previously unreleased.

I.... don't like this song. Not that's it bad, or even a crappy song. I just have nothing for it - the chorus annoys me. Chester makes his voice sound like crap. Only good part?: Guitars in it RULES!

Number 4: "Points Of Authority"(3:20 min.)

Previously unreleased.

Well, the very beginning of the song sucks. But the rest of it rules(until the beginning is repeated).

"You love the way I look at you
While taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through
You take away if I give in
My life
My pride is broken

You loove the things I say I'll do
The way I'll hurt myself again just to get back at you
You take away when I give in
My life
My pride is broken

You like to think you're never wrong
You want to act like you're someone
You want someone to hurt like you
You want to share what you've been through
(You live what you learn)."

Number 5: "Crawling"(3:29 min.)

Second song released, second song a video was made for.

Crawling started a whole new era in my life. It yanked out my inner stuggles, stomped on them, fed them to a dog, and let the dog crap them onto a hot plate.

Inner struggles = Fried dog crap

"Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real"

Number 6: "Runaway"(3:04 min.)

Previously unreleased.

My grandma is in love with this song, if anyone cares. I just though it was an intriguing bit of information. I like this song, too... but it's not my favorite. Near the bottom of my list of favorites from the CD, actually.

I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind"

Number 7: "By Myself"(3:10 min)

Previously unreleased.

Great song. The music contrasts with the lyrics... I believe it was supposed to be like that. If you listen closely, during the verses, you can hear a ghoulish sound in the background. Bone chilling.

"I cant hold on
(To what I want when I'm stretched so thin)
It's all too much to take in
I can't hold on
(To anything, watching everything spin)
With thoughts of failure sinking in"

Number 8: "In The End"(3:36 min.)

Third song released, third song a video was made for.

BEST song on the album in my mind. This song is just... fantazimalisticlywhoopwhoopin'! And that sums it all up(dl this song if you have never heard this song before).

"I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter."

Number 9: "A Place For My Head"(3:05 min.)

Previously unreleased.

"I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head"

Number 10: "Forgotten"(3:14 min.)

Previously unreleased.

SECOND favorite song on the CD. Oh yeah, this song has it all. Lyrics from heaven, guitars from heaven, and some "everybody, JUMP AROUND" effects.

"From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop
At the core I've forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts
Taken far from my safety
The picture is there
The memory wont escape me
But why should I care"

Number 11: "Cure For The Itch"('I dunno' min.

Previously unreleased.

No lyrics to it - pure music. Pure DJ, I should say. Mr. Hahn proves to you he's good.

Number 12: "Pushing Me Away"(3:12 min.)

Previously unreleased.

Final song on the CD, and a perfect ender. It's... slow. But good.

"(Everything falls apart, even the people who never frown - eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end, you'll soon fine we're out of time left to watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing

Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see, you're testing me
Pushes me away"

"Hybrid Theory." Linkin Park. Get it.

A vision of you walking into the arms of another... you just walked away.

Pushing a lover to love another. Are you turned on?

Have you heard Step Up, High Voltage, or It's Going Down (w/ the xecutioners)? Those three songs convinced me that he's probably one of the best lyricists in the industry today. IMHO.

Linkin Park = dope. I gotta catch them live sometime.

I've heard "It's Going Down" when Mike Shinoda and Mr.Hahn helped the X-Ecutioners

You can also look for Carousel and My December. But i prefer the songs on the cd. I actually have a soft spot in my heart for "Runaway."

I listened to "My December" and "Carousel" a couple minutes ago using real player. Totally awesome! I now have a sweet spot in my heart for HIGH VOLTAGE, though. I'm not a fan of rap, but it owns!
