Repentance and life change are not well known terms to those whose salvation means naught.
When humility and sorrow within our hearts burn,
we are grateful for what GOD has wrought.

"Too harsh!" You may cry, "Why, GOD loves us so -
HE knows that we'll often misstep..."
Seems to me, if you know that, wherever you go -
your hearts will behold every step!

The sin that's "unknown" is confusing to GOD
Whose Heart HE imparts to us all -
the conscience that pricks when e'er we do wrong
forewarns us lest we slip and fall.

"Confess with thy mouth, believe in thine heart"
are often misused or forgotten.
Whenever we feel ourselves yielding to sin
is when we must cry out, begotten

children whose Father's ever firm grip
will pull us from Satan's deep mire.
But will HE reach us if we turn on HIM
to ignore HIM to follow our desire

to do unholy acts that lead only to death
and break GOD'S pure heart to HIS sorrow?
When to GOD does belong our very last breath -
or care we not for the morrow?

My brothers, it's late, and GOD'S testing is nigh,
and soon all the earth will be shattered
by GOD'S trumpets' blasts through the light'ning skies
to show us just what truly mattered!

Head bowed, I now sit, my pride brought down low
when I think of HIS truths I ignored.
When deep down I know I have nowhere to go
but down on my knees with HIS Word.

Psalm fifty-one, a most penitent prose
that speaks my heart full to my sorrow -
now refreshes my soul, recharges my life.
It gives courage to face each tomorrow.

Through humility, repentance, and HIS Hand to Grip
I know that He is my all, yes my all -
I hold tight to HIM when I'm tempted to slip
and to Jesus I desperately call!

And you who, patiently read this, enduring,
reading my self-examination and feel
that your own heart now is impatiently burning
with questions aplenty, and your mind's a-reel -

please follow me in sweet humbleness deep
as we seek through repentance to yield
our self-serving sins, once so precious to keep -
to Jesus, the Christ - pure holiness revealed.

He'll direct us and guide us to GOD'S own dear heart,
Who waits with the good saints of old...
to welcome us home, where we'll never depart
from the glorious wonders of HIS Heavenly fold.

Grace - GOD'S Power!

"Of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues."

as promised
I read this and, to be honest, I cringed each time I saw the 'shouted' words GOD. Is God deaf? Are we? While I can appreciate the feeling that faith should be shouted from the rooftops, I'm in a nice quiet room here reading this.
Rhyme and rhythm were well done but it took some doing to notice.

Bravo
Penelope is too harsh. This is a beautiful piece written straight from the heart. God's name should be shouted from every rooftop and relished in. This is a wonderfully spiritual piece of writing which touched me on a deep level. I appreciated it very much and can't wait to read more of your writing.
