Life is a choice;
To be lived or forgotten.
Love is a choice;
To be had or anguished.
My life was not a choice,
But a simple joke played on by Satan.
'Let's have us some fun,'
He would rant on and on.
'Let's dangle a string,'
He would laugh on and on.
Constant roads he would lay out for me;
Countless wretches he would show
In my dreams, forlorn.
But choices I have,
To which road I should tremble,
To which monsters I should destroy.
So whether it's life,
Or whether it's love,
The choices are limited-
But look, they are still there.

You just have to Satan in, this time, it fits. I think you can separate some stanzas in the poem because you seem to establish a rhythm then discontinued it.

You confused me when you said "My life was not a choice," then proceeded to say you have choices.

The line "To which monsters I should destroy." are you sure you want to keep this?

Very depressing poem, needs polish. The subject and theme is all there, I liked how you concluded your poem. There is a nice structure it.

What I meant by "My life was not a choice" was that before one lives, so I'm told in religion, a soul can choose of whether to live a brand new life or stay in Heaven or Hell. Then, once one is alive, then he has choices on that life. I meant that I didn't choose to live but was forced to by a Powerful Being. Now that I am alive, I can choose my destiny. I hope this make sense. If it still doesn't, tell me.

What religion are you talking about? So now you are giving the credit of being alive in this world to Satan? I am utterly bewildered. It sounds like there is a lack of self-control.

I am talking about the religion of the belief in God, in my sense Christianity. I was tought, earlier in my life when my parents wanted me to read the Bible, that Satan was a corrupted angel sent out of Heaven and hence Hell was created. So here's my question. Do you think Satan was and is the only corrupted angel in Heaven? I think not. Hopefully I don't die in my sleep or get struck by lightening saying so. Angels, I believe, are responsible for sending the soul down to the body. There is no way of knowing if the angel who sent my soul down was and maybe is worse than Satan himself. Does this make sense now? I hope so. If not again, tell me.

Interesting!
Mr. E,

I have to say that I liked this a bit. It had a neat little rhythm all it's own. The message was interesting to say the least. Your belief on how the soul (or whatever you want to call it) is put in the body is very interesting.

If you are talking about Christianity, I am quite sure Satan and his angels have nothing to do with sending the soul down into the body(how did you get that idea in the first place? I'm curious). It is said a third of the angels fell with him into hell so he's not the only one, though he was made more beautiful/and powerful? than the others.

From a religious viewpoint(since you've Satan's name in), I don' think this really works.

If I'm not really getting the point, please explain further.
