As cliche as it may sound, friendship is something else. It's laughing until you cry, it's telling secrets, it's getting your own phone number mixed up with your friend's because you called it so much. Well, my buddy-I consider him my best bud- has an awesome voice. Not to mention he can pronounce anyword you throw at him accurately. It's uncanny sometimes. He told me if i wrote a song, that he would sing it and you know what, that's inspiration enough for me. Though, i really never have written a song before so it's going to be a fun challenge. This will be my first attempt.

"No One"

I forgave you once but not again
it's too much for a single man
last night i saw you with that "no one"
and apparently, i'm not him

Relationships aren't always bliss
but they're not suppose to end like this
the truth doesn't hurt
as much as the lies
god, I hate goodbyes

This is my first attempt
to reflect on what you meant
by the last time
you apologized
I remember the tears in your eyes

Baby, does it hurt you too
when you lie the way you always do
You'll always do what you did before
and excuses aren't enough anymore

I forgave you once but not again
it's too much for a single man
last night i saw you with that "no one"
and apparently, i'm not him

You cry but your tears are stale
weighed down by how you failed
one more relationship that didn't last
like the many others in your past

I forgave you once but not again
it's too much for a single man
last night i saw you with that "no one"
and apparently, i'm not him

I'm going to leave it at that for now. I'm not sure how to do that whole chorus thing so I just wrote it in order that it is sung. It sounds too...poemy but *shrug* I think it's a good start. I want to add more and tweak it. I'm not satisfied with it, far from it but it's late and i'm tired.

I'm in a nutshell

You two have absolutely made my day. I didn't expect the lyrics to be commented on in such a positive way. Truely. I guess it's the "writers way" to never be satisfied. hehe. Oh, and boy am I glad too i found the site, too. I mean, it has everything on one spiffy site. Blogs, poems, stories, writing tools...and more stuff i haven't even gotten around to exploring yet. Thanks!

would have to agree

I would have to agree with my esteemed and beautiful colleagues that not a word of this piece needs to be changed. It's wonderful work and universal in it's unfortunate appeal. I believe most of us have been through something similar and you have done a fine job of making these lyrics accessable for the masses while keeping the tone very personal.

Now I'm off to read more of your work...
