You told me just to

trust you,
that you would never

let me down.
Don't judge a book
by its cover.
You said if it wasn't
for love,
you would have never

stuck around.

But after turning
the first page
I saw a corner
was already
turned down.

Was I looking up
when I should have
looked around.
Was I thinking of
when I should have
thought how.

A penny for your
thoughts,
a penny in my shoe.
Were you just a tab
on a bottle of fizz
was this something
I should have wondered
before you made a

mark on the floor
with your shoes,
Sixpenny poker,
and worn penny
loafers,
I'm going to lose.

You told me you
were here to carry
me away,
you said there was
no fence that could
ever make us stay.

Was I standing up
when I should have
set down.
Was I looking in
when I should have
watched out.

Sixpenny Poker
I made the call,
sixpenny poker
you got to bet
or draw.

I out grew penny
loafers,along time
ago. a heart that
never lets strings
go.
I'm going to stick to
the only thing I know,
my walking boots.
I m going to walk
right out of here.
I wasn't made to
wear someone
elses shoes.
Sixpenny joker,
take your penny
loafers,back to the
sand,I'm through.

Pennies & loafers
Love this poem CoCo. It flows so smoothly. A most enjoyable read, Kentucky woman.

Thanks,
Char :)

Tune?
When I read your lyrics or poetry, they seem to beg for music. I like to try and associate it with a tune I know.
Which tune is it? It doesn't have to fit it, but be same in spirit.
