Storm Bringer! Anansi, liaison for Nyame!
Send down your rains!

Soothe the feverish brow of burning trees
Whose ideologies lead to violence

Their hearts are lost

Storm Bringer! Oh, benevolent Chac!
Send down your rains!

Quench the tormenting thirst of famined plants
Who lived too long in sadness and apathy

Their hearts are hungry

Storm Bringer! Lono, peaceful one!
Send down your rains!

Nourish the forgotten seeds
Buried under the ashes of burnt dreams

Their hearts are in despair

Storm Bringer! Baal, unsheathe your sword!
Send down your rains!

Cleanse the dark and gloomy skies
Tainted with visions of no future

Their hearts are hopeless

Storm Bringer! Ix Chel, our lady rainbow!
Send down your rains!

Let the rainbow blaze the trail
Where a grandiose sun burns bright

Revive their weary hearts

My spirit takes flight to reach the sky
The winds lift my voice -- they hear my cry
They understand the visions I see
As I will, so mote it be

For my eternal muse... We are of one heart... Forever

rain dance
This is quite a powerful piece of anthropoetry.
I wonder how much more tribal and beautiful it would sound if translated to Spanish. Where do the
names of the various spirits come from? Mysterious, intriguing and beatiful. Good work.

rain gods
hello metrozol. i haven't thought about translating the poem to spanish. i'll think about it. the rain gods are from central and south american cultures (mayan and aztec). not that i'm from there but i've used greek and roman gods and goddesses too oft that i wanted something more primal for this poem. i had the internet to thank for finding those names :)
