Sibamae

I used to dream of running away
I never thought iíd look back
Now i do, but not with longing
I wish i could take back
All the mistakes iíve made
That i could undo all the wronging

You can dwell in the past
Keep letting it haunt you
Never let yourself move on
You can keep thinking about
How youíve been let down
Pushed around and stepped upon

You canít change the world,
but you can make a dent
Or so i hear
After youíve lost everything
youíre free to do anything
Free to live without fear
Iíve heard the bottle call my name
every time no hope remains
But i canít take the dive
Iíve got to look inside
and find the one thing
That makes me happy
Just to be alive

I donít really have a home
Just a hole in a house off main street
Not by myself but i still feel alone
Iíve got new life
Things are finally turning around
But can you outrun who you are?

I try to sing of happiness
Pain is all that comes to mind
It keeps me awake most nights
But it all wonít go away
Canít just be washed away
Youíve got to fight

You canít change the world,
but you can make a dent
Or so i hear
After youíve lost everything
youíre free to do anything
Free to live without fear
Iíve heard the bottle call my name
every time no hope remains
But i canít take the dive
Iíve got to look inside
and find the one thing
That makes me happy
Just to be alive

I look at my girl
The one i always hope i have
And hope she never knows my pain
Iíll make it better for her
If i do nothing else in life
Iíll make sure she wonít grow up lame

I canít write a hopeful song
I can only tell a story
Fiction doesnít seem to be my game
All i can say is
If your life isnít great
Donít let others have the same

You canít change the world,
But you can make a dent
Or so i hear
After youíve lost everything
Youíre free to do anything
Free to live without fear
Iíve heard the bottle call my name
Every time no hope remains
But i canít take the dive
Iíve got to look inside
And find the one thing
That makes me happy
Just to be alive

what moves me...
"After youíve lost everything
Youíre free to do anything"

I love this, I live this... I've rarely seen such truth standing alone and unadorned.

You've out done yourself on this piece... so what if the world sux, there are many dents to be made, even if we never notice they are there. Besides, our own judgement of our own contributions, is always bias one way or another...

Thanks
I just wanna say you two have really made my day. I wqs sitting here thinking about how i had to wake up at 6:30 to get to the community college in time for a test (i am trying to get my degree after a long hiatus in my life) and was worried and tired as hell. Your comments and insights have improved my day exponentially. And here i thought i was gonna have to drink my problems away today...

But i must say i am surprised that nobody has commented on how many references i have made to modern media in this song. I have a little game. Whoever can guess the correct amount of music and movie references in this song gets a special prize. (P.B. Hedwig is, sad to say, inelligible because we have discussed this topic already.) Good luck to all.
