North-easterly wind
stirs greying hair and brown leaves
autumn approaches

In five hundred years time, most of us will be forgotten dust. But Hitler will still be remembered, God loves irony.

grey hair
This is fabulous! It draws together the seasons of earth and life, bringing them together quite beautifully. It ended on a sigh, for me, and now I vow to pluck no more grey hair, but turn my face to the wind, however cold the north-east sends it. Very, very well done.

You will not often see me commenting on Haiku, mainly because I do not understand it, and really feel we are trying to steal a Japanese art form that doesn't often work, for me, in our language.

This however is absolutely brilliant and is the one that may make me look more closely.

Whe 'poetry' is good it matters not style it is in....this is good....very good.

The other comments here have already said it all, but I wanted to echo what has been said, because for me, this was one of the best haiku I've read in a long time, and probably one of the few that uses the form in the way it was truly intended.

Thank you. :)

Good grief!!
Never expected this response in a coupla days - wow! Thank you everybody for taking time to read and comment. Incidentally, on the right hand side of my screen I can see adverts for grey hair covering products. I love the irony. Ivor, if I may say this - I've always felt that sharing other cultures' art-forms visual or written enriches ours. I understand what you mean about language, but would hesitate to agree with you. But, it's different strokes etc. and I totally respect you and your opinion. Variety truly is spicy and this website has lots of spice.
That why I love it so much.
Take care

Paul's grey hair
Sorry I'm late, got hit in the face with a hair net on the way in, :-)

This made me giggle, and blush cos I was sitting in my office at the time. I just got images of Bournemouth (Coast of England) with all the old ladies walking along the blustery promenade, blue rinse and grey hair flying about with those old brwon overcoats.

Was this meant to be satyrically humourous?

Alex :-)

Not really Alex
but I see what you mean. It's amazing how many different takes different people can read into words.
Take care and thanks for commenting
