Oh, what price we pay for all we have
it costs us all so much
the life of a daughter, husband or son
or someone dear we touched

though we think this cost is very dear
we pay it every day
we understand that it costs this much
for the freedoms, so we pay

our fathers have fought, and some have died
yet, we continue to pay the price
so we give of ourselves in all those ways
for the freedom and our life

we give without thinking twice
we pay without remorse
some come back to tell stories and tales
and some will not of course

I have paid my fair share
and I have this to say
the cost of keeping all we have
is worth the price we pay
