I've been bargaining. Maybe begging is the right word. Not for a lifetime, but for a day. A single day. A single ordinary day. I'll even take the worst day of our marriage. At the end of any of those days was hope. It's too much to ask for hope on it's own, so I'll take the illusion of hope. I'll take anything that resembles hope. I just want to know what hope feels like one last time.
